The Importance of Moral Values in Sheikh Saadi's Poetry and Prose

Abstract

In the Persian language and literature, special importance has been given to moral values, and Iranian poets and writers have created precious and worthy works of poetry and prose due to the importance of this topic. Among these master poets and writers, we can mention Saadi, Hafez, Ferdowsi, Attar, Khayyam, and Nizami Ganjavi. Among them, the Bostan and Golestan of Sheikh Saadi Shirazi are very important. Saadi has institutionalised human and moral values in his society in the form of poetry and prose and instructive anecdotes, and the reader adheres to moral values more by reading these instructive anecdotes, to the extent that Saadi's Golestan and Bostan not only have countless fans in Iran but have also been translated and interpreted in different languages. Bostan and Golestan have also been translated and interpreted in Urdu, and there are many translations of these two works of Sheikh Saadi in the subcontinent. In this research, we will discuss the importance of moral values from Sheikh Saadi's point of view in Bostan and Golestan.
