Memoir is the pith or core of history and criticism. In this research paper, the memoir of the first half of the twentieth century is examined. The memoirs in Urdu, which provide the basis for Urdu history and criticism, took deep and strong roots in Punjab and other areas. Muhammad Hussain Azad's Aab-i-Hayat is the glaring example of that pattern/genre. The flame of Urdu memoirs flickered in the twentieth century. Even in that age, Punjab showed great fertility in this genre. The history of Urdu literature, criticism, sketch writing, and other genres took their birth from the memoir and sprouted a lot. The memoirs written in Punjab have been encompassed in this research paper.
