Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's Mental Tendencies: In The Light of His Muqtas

Abstract

Ahmed Nadeem was acclaimed to a high pedestal in modern Urdu poetry; his ghazal in particular attracted numerous readers and critics. In ghazal poetry, the last couplet (Maqta) carries immense importance. In Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's ghazal art, one may observe the beautiful final couplet (Maqta) featuring varied subjects and thought processes. His Maqta expresses his intellectual inclinations and aptness in a specific style. This research article briefly explores the diversity of thought and intellectual perspectives. We read that his Maqta embraces a wide range of topics, including existentialism, the concept of God, the certainty and uncertainty of faith, empiricism, and humanism. In his Maqta, one may encounter a new world of meanings: the world of love and hate, the meeting and departure of the lover and the beloved, and the agony of knowledge and ignorance. The helplessness of man to acquaint himself with life and its upheavals, and his countering strategies.
