Khalida Hussain is a reliable reference in modern Urdu fiction. She went through the stages of self-realisation and described the internal conditions in her fiction. Khalida Hussain has made women the subject of her fiction. She highlighted issues like class conflict, people’s narrow-mindedness, unfair distribution of wealth, and love and passion in women. One of the themes of Khalida Hussain's fiction is existentialism, so her characters travel from externality to internality. Her female characters search for their identity and question their existence.
